Tot-Hom TERRITORY: Spring/Summer 2017 Collection
🇫🇷 Prêt-à-porter (🇺🇸 ready-to-wear/🇪🇸 listo para llevar) & 🇫🇷 haute couture evening between flowers & tulle
‘From the beginning …I have rejected the conventional and opposed formal attitudes. I have recklessly injected colour and beauty into my designs and have fought for originality and freedom of choice.’
Zandra Rhodes (b.1940)
20III17 – BARCELONA.
I recognize I’m close to the season’s flowers and fruits when I feel rising temperatures, get drenched with more sunshine and daylight hours and get the invitation to attend Tot-Hom seasonal fashion show by the deed and grace of Marta Rota and Andrea and Alejandra Osés, the three clear signs that happily spring is coming.
Off scheduled fashion weeks and at the beginning of the season, loyal fans, enthusiasts and fashion chroniclers join up twice a year in an unmissable event. On 6 March Tot-Hom launched its Spring Summer 2017 trends. Since it opened its own showroom space in Madrid 11 March 2010, first it tackled the sumptuous residence halls at Yves Saint-Geours French Amassador Residence, in the heart of the Salamanca district, and then landed in Barcelona, in the large hall of the Catalonia Convention Centre.
In order to give life to this new season, Tot-Hom treated us to visual exhibition of Línea A, true to its sporty-chic style in the street focused on women who love to follow cleaned and refreshing routes with the firm intention of becoming the kings of the road. Since their inception in 2005, the third generation of this family tradition of seamstress promotes working look to conquer at all times of day.
Baggy pants fastened at the waist, plumeti tops, shirts, blazers and masculine tailored suits choose to send out a forceful message: do mix textures and keep white and earth tones. Reversioned expedition pants and bulky-sleeves-blouses cry out for going down into the street. We can emulate, but not replicate and so do plunge to the adventure to create your trends and wear your wardrobe as a language trusting in Tot-Hom as the label heading.
For season and year in a row, sneakers are alive and continue to roam freely on the haute couture, prét-à-porter and ready-to-wear catwalk. It remains to be seen who is the one brave enough to decide when and how to deprive ourselves of this haven of comfort and well-being.
It is now the turn to pay attention to the width of the shoulders, the curves and the slim waists with a wide belt loop.
Some like it hot!
Long skirts do perform their pleasant side with sweatshirts as an ally. Long dresses, maxi looses, jackets and trench coats of all lengths with magnetic clip closure on the front and side cuts and convincing prints starring flowers. A collection filled with toppings: geometric forms outlining the necks, waterfalls of feathers and abundance of brocades. An ode to nature.
Flounces, frills and patterned silks live together in full harmony with lightweight fabrics of rustic cotton, tulle, linen, organza, silk, technical textile, cotton and gazar that will cover us to star a successful safe bet.
Bijoux XXL. As everlasting dance partner to complete the Tot-Hom-sets, sisters García Rotger participated with large scale pieces of jewellery by Carmina Rotger fashion accessories, oversized necklaces very visible by their shapes and volumes in striking designs, different sized big combined links necklaces made of plastic resin and in horn, tribal bracelets, everything in extra large size key. Keep track of them at http://www.carminarotger.com/ and don’t wait for people to tell you about it.
What if I were to tell you that the most happening flip-flops on the red-hot resale market were blue-and-white Adidas originals Adilette slider flip-flops? At the moment, leather and printed reinvented ones are making an impressive debut on haute couture runways, those that were all the rage in the nineties, today so rare and high-end flip-flops. What a change! It gives me chills just imagining it! Whether you’re in haute couture attire or going to take a bath, flip-flops are the ultimate for every occasion. Dior, Givenchy and Salvatore Ferragamo took them to the catwalk to present their spring/summer collections and it is forecast to become a real bestseller worldwide. Certainly that the one who payed tribute to this shoe with deserved honors was Jacquemus, who presented his collection for autumn/winter 13.14 in an indoor pool during the Paris Fashion Week. And in this context, this well combined trend claims to groom with unparalleled distinction and attitude for this to work. And so if needed a pair, would you jump in the deep end in a well dressed mode?
The shirt-inspired dress promises devotion for several seasons. Welcome to my predilection in motion. Tot-Hom law is to heat things up as the show moves forward. Its Haute Couture triggered me to dream about red carpet dresses, the season sine qua non garment. Models walked down the runway wrapped in a comprehensive following dresses in tulle layers. Moreover, it sprouted a floral nature that tangled me. A full-of-flavour assortment with floral motifs in printed fabrics, laces, lovingly embroidery on chiffon and tulle (the best choice) and in relief.
The strawberry pink has become another brand flagship color. Under the heading ‘Colors’ by Daniela Tonello (Barcelona Divina magazine), Tot-Hom revealed its palette of colours for this summer season reproducing the whole range of a new brightly dawn: red rose, lilac, bubble gum pink, Cerulean blue, red tangerine, red ochre dust, pale pink, cinnamon and an entertaining series of pastel shades, such as mint green.
To find inspiration when it comes to have our hair done, New Look Barcelona exhibited the timeless polished ponytail, the most useful and soft hairdo, an incredibly flattering style for all ages since it frames and accentuates the face. Those with long hair should have a PhD in wearing our hair neatly pulled back to make your neck look elegantly long. It does in fact offer endless possibilities. On this occasion, a quiet low ultra straight ponytail means the spring-summer coiffure-boss.
Tot-Hom’s way to walk down the aisle, it always has a further ace up its sleeve which marks the end: a Tot-Hom bride including bouquet in a smart lacery silk dress with plumetti-tulle details in short tightfitting sleeves, neckline and back. The rest still stands: brocades, a classical cut for a perfect contour and a touch of rhinestones in the right place at the appropriate proportion.
My Favorites? Pink tulle haute couture dresses and the gratitude of the family to the many hundreds guests expressed with a youthful mimosa bouquet of flowers and leaves, thus symbolizing the magnificence, the elegance, the tenderness: a clear message of friendship. Tot-Hom offered us its delicate and luminous flower and left no one indifferent. Outbreaks of overwhelming yellow color similar to little cotton balls. From 1946 in my beloved Italy they keep the nice tradition of giving women mimosa. Since March 8 we celebrated International Women’s Day and mimosas also represent the feminine energy, I took a few more forgotten on the chairs.
The magnificent finale? The closing: as is becoming traditional fit out in black, Marta Rota’s catwalk first holding a super bouquet and blowing kisses to her attentive audience plus Alejandra and Andrea Osés clapping and joining her with a huge smile on their faces before unanimous applause from those present.
Tot-Hom told us of its love for the spring brilliance and the pleasing summer air in the midst of a roles showcase but moving its aesthetic codes. Provided that I do remember the boarding pass, a pink artistic sketch, it gave me clues as to the garments that are going to spend the summer with me, an up-to-date map-book made up of fashionable colors.
Let’s go for that very optimistic Spanish woman with nods towards the Italian-Parisian-Hollywood-manner with passion, sensitivity and magic spell lining every sean.
See you next Tot-Hom time!
