‘REVOLUTIONARY ROAD’, LA COLECCIÓN DE PRIMAVERA/VERANO PARA 2017 DE JUSTICIA RUANO

SHORT OVERVIEW

My love & passion for fashion dates back to my six-years-old. I was mad at my mother. She always looked impecable, elegant, sober at all times. She caused stares and envy at her goes with her curvilinear figure visually underscoring the waist. Recognisable manicure, pedicure, hairdresser and image.  She stepped into high-heeled shoes avoiding flat footwear and for that reason yet I was even more surprised to how it would feel fitted into those high heels and pointy-toed fashion shoes. Daily, on my return from school to eat at home, I carefully chose some pair of her wonderful shoes according to my apparel, I literally wrapped in one of her kitchen apron and I wore a wig. This is how I used to play kitchens and markets with Barbie dolls at home under my father’s welcoming picturing myself to be adult. Even with maid and nanny at home, my mommy was in charge of the kitchen by an express and exquisite requirement of my daddy. This way until my 13-years-old that I put on my first high-heels to go to school without taking into account the laughs of other girls. And I stopped to play at being adult.

I was born in November 1970, the seventies, that extraordinary decade in fashion industry, that everlasting inspiration source, the one that serves as a reference, the one that is in vogue. Consequently and undeniably, I find my mother guilty of me being, in part, a fashion chronicler.

A glorification of feminity

During last Barcelona Fashion Week in July 2016, Justicia Ruano, who has parallels with the rebellious Dadaist mindset of the early 20th century, signed the most daring creation in Barcelona’s landscape for Spring/Summer 2017. The trigger for my inspiration is her commitment to the orchid; a constant, a powerful symbol in the construction of her identity. I was captivated by the charm with excess in all this exotic flower tones: lavender, ros, violet, aubergine, fuchsia, purple, mauve & lilac. I let the rhythm enveloped me with the ruffles allied to the immaculate white. I flirted among the exuberance of the various textures right by hypnotic geometries, a puzzle of pure forms, a whimsical & tempting trend, a burst of energy.

Dazzling Justi.  You’ve got a special attraction, as New York based Studio 54 had, the myth & the temple at The City’s 54th West. One of a kind, out of this world in which anyone on earth wanted to be.

INTRODUCCIÓN

Mi pasión por la moda se remonta a mis 6 años. Flipaba con mi madre. Siempre vestía impecable, elegante, sobria, derrochando expectación y envidias con su figura curvilínea marcando cintura. Manicura, pedicura, peluquería e imagen impolutas. Jamás se calzaba plana y me sorprendía vorazmente qué se sentiría encajada en esos taconazos. A diario, cuando regresaba del colegio para comer en casa, seleccionaba con tiento, acorde con mi indumentaria, algún par de sus maravillosos zapatos, me envolvía literalmente en uno de sus delantales de cocina y me peinaba con una peluca: de esta guisa jugaba y andaba por casa, bajo la atención de mi padre, imaginándome ser mayor. Aún con 2 personas de servicio en casa, mamá se encargaba de la comida por exigencia exquisita del guión de mi padre. Así hasta que a los 13 años me calcé mis primeros tacones de aguja para ir al colegio sin importarme las risas de las otras niñas y dejé de jugar a ser mayor. 

Nací en noviembre de 1970, los setenta, la portentosa década en la industria de la moda, esa imperecedera raíz de inspiración, la que ejerce de guía y regresa siempre. Por lo que la culpable de que hoy sea, en parte, cronista de moda es, indiscutiblemente, mi madre.

UNA CELEBRACIÓN DE FEMINIDAD

Y, durante la semana de la moda de Barcelona celebrada en Julio de 2016, ‘Revolutionary road’ fue la creación más audaz del panorama barcelonés para la Primavera/Verano del año que viene firmada por Justicia Ruano, quién guarda cierto paralelismo con el espíritu rebelde de los dadaístas de principios del siglo XX. El detonante de mi inspiración fue su apuesta por la orquídea; una constante, un poderoso símbolo en la construcción de su identidad: sucumbí al encanto con exceso de todos los tonos de esta exótica flor: lavanda, rosa, violeta, berenjena, fucsia, púrpura, malva y lila. Dejé que el ritmo me envolviera con los volantes aliados al blanco impoluto. Coqueteé con la exuberancia de las diferentes texturas con geometrías hipnóticas, un puzzle de formas puras, una tendencia caprichosa y seductora, una explosión de energía.

Deslumbrante Justi. Tiene un aura especial, como la tuvo Studio 54 en la noche neoyorkina, el mito y el templo de la 54 Oeste en ‘The City’, único, independiente y en el que cualquier persona del planeta quiso estar.
