18VII17 – BARCELONA, SPAIN.

Grup Met, the shrewd-sense international Catalan company is a Spanish explorer and pioneer brand that combines logistics and fashion sectors into just one. Its latest effort took me by surprise: it made its debut during the latest edition of the 080 Barcelona Fashion Week with ‘Sweet Life’ world premiere, Sweet Matitos brand new first women’s collection (I hope it is the first of many).

The two designers are commonly known as ‘the Matitos’ and they are keen to pass on the values of family, good mood and happiness as the driving force of the company running through the collection. The hyper feminine and country ‘Romantic beauty’ line masters embroidered and printed cooler silks and cotton fabrics with hangs in soft fruity tones. ‘Serenity’ symbolizes the harmony the contact with nature gives us using the warmth of the earth tones. The interpretation of the eighteenth- and nineteenth-century British expeditions is expressed through green crepe and animal print fabrics in ‘Nature Lover’. Gold, white and black colours that extends on tulle of jewelled embroidery point ‘Heritage’ to as the Venetian-style party gowns’ collection.

Will Sweet Matitos fit into ‘masstige’ trend? Since luxury does not arise from the task that shines the most (it is not always all what it seems) but the better manufactured and finished in such a competitive apparel marketplace, its SS18 will dress the world by means of a framework strategy for two safe bets: an intriguing trade policy and a galloping international expansion plan.

La avispada internacional catalana Grup Met, exploradora y pionera marca española que aúna las divisiones de logística y moda en un sólo plano, me pilló desprevenida con su última iniciativa: debutó durante la pasada edición de la semana de la moda 080 Barcelona y lanzó mundialmente ‘Sweet Life’, su primera colección para mujer (de muchas, espero) bajo la etiqueta Sweet Matitos. A los ‘Matitos’, como familiarmente se les conoce a los diseñadores, les representa su hilo conductor, que son la unión, el buen humor y la felicidad y el entusiasmo callejea por sus cuatro líneas.

En la campestre ‘Romantic Beauty’ dominan las sedas frescas y bambulas con caída estampadas y bordadas usando tonos suaves. ‘Serenity’ simboliza la armonía que el contacto con el mar y la montaña nos aporta usando la calidez de los tonos tierra. La interpretación de las expediciones británicas de los siglos XVIII y XIX queda manifiesta en ‘Nature Lover’ con telas de crepe en distintos matices de color verde y estampados animalistas. Los regios dorados, blancos y negros, extendidos sobre tules bordados con pedrería, señalan a ‘Heritage’ como la fiesta veneciana de la colección.

¿Encajará Sweet Matitos en la tendencia ‘masstige’? Puesto que en este mercado tan competitivo el lujo no surge de lo que más brilla, sino de lo que mejor fabricado y acabado está, su P/V18 vestirá al mundo a través de una intrigante política comercial y de un galopante programa de expansión global: dos apuestas estratégicas ganadoras.
