I wrote the first internal communication on Covid-19 in February from the hospital while my husband and partner was battling between life and death (not because of the virus). Every day, hours of remote work and uncertainty lead me to cry alone and think what was important in my life, to delegate and value teamwork in difficult moments. When he was discharged from hospital on March 12, I closed TREC Barcelona’s facilities and went into confinement for our first national alert status the next very day. Still unconscious of the socio-economic crisis magnitude that was coming down the line, and following a comprehensive costs study, I considered that to maintain an adequate business structure and to continue to serve customers’ needs, we should take action to get rid of unimportant expenses and no longer reduce, but finish our March and April salaries in order to avoid adjusting the staffing if we wanted to convey the individuals within our business family their jobs safety. A temporary decision, without the right to access any aid or measure driven by any administration or supply company.
I reached today’s calibrated decision to extend this measure to May and June because in the organization that we promote individuals rule and it requires a large workforce.
From June on, God will say. I’m convinced we’re going to make it and we’re not giving up.
I do remind you of the importance of taking all possible precautions to avoid becoming infected.

Redacté la primera circular interna sobre el Covid-19 en febrero desde el hospital mientras mi marido y socio se debatía entre la vida y la muerte (no por el virus). Diariamente, las horas de trabajo remoto y la incertidumbre me conducían al llanto en solitario y a la cavilación para evaluar lo que de verdad era importante en mi vida, para delegar y valorar más el trabajo en equipo. Cuando recibió el alta hospitalaria el 12 de marzo, cerré las instalaciones de TREC Barcelona y entramos en confinamiento por nuestro primer estado de alerta sanitaria nacional al día siguiente. Sin ser consciente todavía de la magnitud de la crisis económico-social que se nos venía encima y tras un estudio de costes exhaustivo, pensé que para mantener la estructura del negocio y seguir sirviendo las necesidades de nuestros clientes debía tomar medidas, como deshacernos de gastos triviales y ya no de reducir, sino de aniquilar nuestros sueldos de marzo y abril a fin de evitar ajustar la plantilla si quería transmitir a las personas que forman parte de nuestra familia empresarial la seguridad de sus puestos de trabajo. Una decisión temporal, sin tener derecho a acceder a ninguna ayuda ni medida impulsada por ninguna administración ni compañía de suministros.
Hoy he decidido extender esta medida, calibrada, a mayo y junio porque en la organización que fomentamos prevalece el mérito de las personas y requiere de un equipo humano de calidad.
A partir de junio, Dios dirá. Estoy convencida que saldremos adelante y no nos vamos a rendir.
Os recuerdo la importancia de tomar todas las precauciones posibles para evitar el contagio.
